R53 Mini Cooper S Track Day at the FIRM (Florida International Rally and Motorsports Park)
With the Mini's first wave of mods complete, it need to be track tested, and it did not disappoint. I took the car to the Florida International Rally and Motorsports Park (The FIRM) for an open track day. The casual nature of open lapping was incredible. The shorter length of 1.6 miles gave me a quick return to corners to try different lines and get better at the track. It's a pretty simply layout and fairly easy on equipment. It's not one I need to return to, but I am sure glad I went. The car ran smoothly all day without a single hiccup, and I am happy to leave it in this state for the foreseeable future.

E70 BMW X5M Muffle Delete
Переглядів 2,6 тис.2 роки тому
I am currently working on modifying the stock exhaust on my wife's daily driver X5M. To have easy access to the rear muffler, I had to cut it off the rest of the exhaust and then use clamps to make it easily removable. While doing all this, I decided to record a quick video of the car with no muffler. While it does sound better, with the way BMW has the exhaust manifolds set up, they have sacri...
Precise Sight Windshield Treatment DIY and Review
Переглядів 1472 роки тому
One of the best things that has come from my time on Instagram is finding the company Precision Driving Tech; they’re a race team that also produces a long-term windshield coating. It is a windshield treatment designed to repel water; their coating is applied in a matter of minutes and lasts for two years. It works perfectly; rain just rolls up the windshield without even needing the wipers. It...
E70 BMW X5M How to Change All Drivetrain Fluids DIY

The E70 X5M is has a pretty complicated drivetrain; and there are a lot of different fluids to replace. This video will help you replace the engine oil, automatic transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and differential fluid. I sourced all my fluids from FCP Euro and the magnetic drain plugs from ECS Tuning. FCP Euro has a great lifetime warranty that will refund you for any used part includi...
R53 Mini Cooper S Brass Caliper Bushings DIY
Переглядів 6812 роки тому
Most German cars use rubber brake caliper pin bushings in the pursuit of a more luxurious driving experience. These rubber bushings allow for some flex between the caliper and the guide pins which will dampen the brake application and hinder enthusiastic driving. The solution is to replace the rubber with brass. This is a very easy upgrade that, when implemented within a more holistic brake upg...
DIY Budget Miter Cart Build (New Shop Episode 2)
Переглядів 542 роки тому
If you have a shop or garage and a miter saw, you likely already have some of these supplies from other projects. Prices are insane right now, but even if you are starting from scratch, this should cost no more than $75. For some, it might even be “free” (all I needed was a third $5 2x4). This miter cart is absolutely not furniture quality perfection, but it will get the job done,. That’s all I...

I Bought an E60 BMW M5! (and didn't film it...sorry)
Переглядів 1872 роки тому
I finally bought an E60 M5 manual! Unfortunately, it all happened so fast and when I least expected it; so, I didn't film any of it. Rest assured, there will be plenty of videos on this car in the future, but for now, my re-telling of the story will have to do. I am so excited to have access to an S85B50 whenever I want! It may not be as quick as my wife's E70 X5M, but it's faster (204mph fast!...
R53 Mini Cooper S at Roebling Road

Track driving begins at 10:45 corsacrewrace.com/ maxspeedtrackdays.com/ Sooner than expected I was able to get the Mini back out on track. I was able to replace all the bushing on the car and install my oil pressure and temperature gauges. Unfortunately, my method of access the oil failed and caused a huge oil leak. I missed two of my six sessions while I fixed it, but other than that, this car...

E70 BMW X5 AVIN Screen Review
Переглядів 1,8 тис.2 роки тому
When we bought my wife's E70 X5M, it already had an AVIN Multimedia Navigation System in it, which essentially is like an Android tablet that allows you to use modern phone connectivity while retaining the BMW functions. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I felt much better knowing the car came with the original factory screen if I didn't like the AVIN unit. I watched a few videos from other U...
Discount Used Race Slicks Guide

Track day tires are expensive; there's really not a way to get around it...or can you? Professional racing teams run through slicks the way most people lose pennies. They use them for a very short periods before tossing them out with tons of life left. Lucky for us, dealers buy up these used tires at a huge discount them sell them to enthusiast. These are really a great way to get a set of race...
Federal ST-1 Evoluzion Tire Review on an R53 Mini Cooper S
Переглядів 2,4 тис.2 роки тому
Note: apparently these run about one size wide. I did not notice on my 205s, but others have noticed in 275s. This is my second car to have the Federal ST-1 Evoluzion; I previously ran them on my E39 540i. They were new back then, but I now have a total over about 20,000 miles on this set. They have also done three track days with very respectable manners at the limit. I continue to be very imp...

Thank you for the detail on each component and explaination of the sunroof operation. This was incredibly helpful while I was hodgepodging two junkyard sunroof assemblies into one working one.
Just wodering wrap + 3m fabric?
Was there anything on the exhaust to give any clue. Cuz that sounds great would love to grab one up myself
Termikli fan iptal edip elektrikli fan bağlamak motora zarar vermezmi yani mühendisler elektrikli fan koyabilirdi termikli fanı uygun görmüşler belirli bir sıcaklığı korumak için olabilirmi mekanik fan ?
@@autocarcareservice8962 Elektrikli fan her bakımdan üstün olacaktır.
What about bucket seats? That way you wouldn’t have the two internal belt hooks. Where the harnesses points would be fixed?
Just wanted to say Thanks I’ve been wondering what that shake at like 50-60 mph was gonna try those bushings in the control arms!
@@ronanoconnell9518 they'll be the best $80 you spend on the car
Great video , is the oil specifically 5w-30 or can I use 5w-40 I believe that’s what the owners manual says , also I missed where the copper washer goes can some explain?
@JCVTACTICAL the copper washer is used for the drain plug. Different models that use the same filter may have two drain plugs or a small drain plug for the oil filter housing. You can use a heavier weight if desired for your use case.
Thank you! This made everything sooooo much easier. I ended up having to remove the subframe bolt on one side but kept a few threads on the driver's side. Great walk-through. Thnaks again!
that intercooler has seen some days.
Well, there's a K20 there now
A czemu czujnik tak wysoko a nie powinien byc niżej.
temperatura jest ustawiona na wysoką, aby zwiększyć wydajność i zmniejszyć emisję; jednak części ulegną wcześniejszemu zużyciu.
Thanks for sharing. I just picked up a trailer kit from HF, and will be starting my buildout soon. Any tips 6 years after the video?
I feel the larger diameter trailer wheels are worth it if you plan to go long distances
@@350Z247 Mine came with 12" wheels. I guess the price increase isn't just inflation. 😂 Have you had any weight balance issues with the tires on the back, instead of the front? How's the plastic container holding up? Does it keep water out if you drive in the rain?
@grippgoat the weight was fine, it balanced pretty well, and the container did it's job pretty well.
Hey there, I currently have 2007 non-Brembos, but I already have stainless steel lines installed. Would I need to order different stainless steel lines for these? Or would I be fine with my current SS lines? Thanks for the video!
You're current lines will likely work, but I can't be sure. My Z1 lines worked 10 years ago, but there's no telling now.
@@350Z247 Thanks! I just went to order them from the link, but looks like AAP doesn't carry them anymore😢fingers crossed they're still up on CARiD!
I’m trying to get one is it smart to get one
Yes
Get a late model Chevy express van 3500. Ypu will need a camshaft, exhaust headders, a tune and helper springs. Make sure ypu check the brakes in the rear, those wear out much faster (I go for performance oriented front pads that brake better and wear faster to compensate a bit for the wear difference and the weight of the rig). Make sure yoj get a 3500 with a 6 speed, if you get a late model like a 2019 it will come with an L96 vortec engine (last and best version of the 6.0 vortec) and it should come with the 6L90 transmission, which is bulletproof. It likes premium fuel evennif it doesn't need it (91 octane). And get the long wheel base, it will actually help ypu a lot with towing dinamics. I own a 2019 3500 15 passenger express. I move people, heavy stuff and tow trailers with it. It is a beast, it has plenty of power and some simple mods will make your life even better. Just dont go too agressive with the cam and keep up the maintenance regularly (7k miles, complete mainteinance, sinthetic oil, 20k miles between transmission maintenance, 40k miles for the diff at most). The van should be able to move itself over 300k miles without an issue
Really curious about how much power the mechanical fan is taking now! Would be cool to see a dyno comparison
Concise and to the point! Do you have a video on how you did the mirrors?
I do not. They aren't the best solution
Haha I made the mistake of removing the white box and the AC controls too. Thankfully I hadn't thrown them away and now their ziptied back in
Don’t do this, it trapped air in my g35. You cannot burp system without heat
Then you need to get better at filling the cooling system. Mine works just fine.
What’s the box called
I mean I watched both videos. Attention spans a little bit lacking but just wanted to confirm if you can swap gear ratios between manual and autos? I was told no but on the Z1 website I'm pretty sure that they said it might be possible
Do not take any advice from those who told you that. All differential housings on the 350Z and 370Z are the same aside from LSD vs Non and gear ratios. You can swap any rear diff into any RWD car.
Color is only a factor in the visible spectrum. Material type and finish determine thermal energy absorption. Search "emmisivty". Great video.
Great video mate 👍
Does the FX35 also use a 3.69 ratio
Do you have to put those big washers on front lower arm?
Me favorite tuning is stage 2+ for 3.0d engine❤
You just gonna blow all the bearings in you engine instead of spending 150$ more to get can a gel or stock damper that absorbs the knocking ... Bravo
Oh look, another person who read and believed all the forum experts. Keep walking sheep.
Good job making the video, my rear window regulator just broke with the window stuck down, so this is helpful.
Q: Do you still own this MINI? Just curious. I have a 2020 3 door, seems all my noise is coming from the rear sill vent holes just below the hatch latch. Did you cover those? TIA.
I do. I'm about to rebuild it and really going to add more sound deadening including in these areas
@@350Z247 wow, good for you. I took off the plastic facing and found that there is indeed a special vest for flow-through air, but also a ton of holes in the sheet metal that just don't need to be open. I covered them with a metal tape the stuff used on HVAC duct work. Worked great as it had no thickness to interfere with the plastic cover. I will see how effective that was. Good luck to you, and thx for your reply.
Really hoping you see this and can get some insight from you I’m doing this exact same cooling setup. The only issue I am finding is that I cannot find that block off plate with the coolant port by the manifolds. Do you know if a company who makes them or would you be willing to make one and I could pay Would love to hear back from you, thanks
I made it out of a plate of aluminum after tracing the gasket on it. It was very easy.
My benz had a service-mode already incorporated into the struts from factory. 😁
Does anyone know how good these are from a stop?
Where do u order that
At the link in the description
watch the stud on some cars...on cars with the stud really close to the rear, you might have to go in at a slight angle or offset to 1 side...I'll use these bigger eyelets on my next HW keychains (started w/#216s)
My only concern is leaving the vehicle quickly like a fire hazard. Lots of straps.
I don't use them on track; they were jusy for road use
Rozpurka jest lepsza

A gdzie te części można kupić
Where do you purchase this?
I think they discontinued it unfortunately
God you Americans don’t half waffle on - yawn 🥱
I love your video. I have a question regarding the 12V power source during installation. Why couldn't you combine the power sources for the light bulb and the gauge itself to a single 12V power source say the radio in this case?
Whatever is easiest for your set up will work
My window is not going back into the door
It's a huge pain to replace the windows on these cars
MI installed the 75 mm throttle body and bored out the plenum to match 75 mm. I also sanded and polished the upper and lower plenum. I did a ECU reset and throttle idle learn However, still have a service engine soon. Notice light. I cle ared that and it came back ten minutes later. Does anybody know what I should try next. The only other thing I did was replace spark plugs withNGK Ruthenium plugs.

I put a 85c calibrated thermostat on my 97 540i I owned about 5 years ago…. Worked fantastic and car ran cooler
one thing i noticed is most z owners wear adidas sneakers ❤
They make a good shoe
5w30 ??? why?
Depending on what car this engine went into, the recommended oil weight ranges from 0W30 to 15W40. Guess what? It doesn't matter. Most use 5W30 or 5W40. Unless you live in Canada or Dubai, you'll be fine with either. It's just a street car.
Because 5w-30 is what the manufacturer recommends so why not?
Does that white box only need to be there when you are tuning the factory ecu ? Or if I have a haltech stand alone can I get rid of the white box and AC controls ? Thankyou
I would assume that once you go to the Haltech, it won't matter anymore. If you call the tuner you plan to use, they'll likely know for sure.
Nice video. Concise and to the point.
I'm in the process of my weight reduction on my z this video helped me alot
worked perfect for a GTO hotwheel !!
